One donated phone can become someone’s lifeline. Here is the journey every Reconnect phone takes.
1. A phone is donated
Businesses upgrading their devices or members of the public donate unwanted smartphones to the Reconnect Project.
2. Every device is securely restored
Our trusted technology partner, Sustainable Tech 4 Good, professionally:
- securely wipes all personal data
- removes any existing accounts and tracking
- tests the device
- restores it to factory settings
- prepares it for its next owner
Every phone is safe, secure and ready for a fresh start.
3. Corporate sponsors help bring it to life
Businesses can sponsor the items that transform a phone into an emergency lifeline, including:
- SIM cards
- initial call and data credit
- charging cables and plugs
- protective cases (where available)
This means every phone arrives ready to use immediately.
4. Packed with care
Each phone is carefully prepared by the Reconnect Project and presented in a gift box with:
- the restored smartphone
- charger
- activated SIM card
- welcome information
- a personal message of encouragement and hope
It’s more than a phone. It’s a reminder that someone believes in them.
5. Reaching the women who need it most
We work directly with refuge managers and trusted outreach organisations. They identify survivors who would benefit from a phone and distribute devices quickly when they are needed.
The phones are gifted permanently, giving each woman a secure way to communicate, rebuild independence and stay connected.
6. A new beginning
For many survivors, this phone becomes the first safe way to:
- contact family and friends
- access employment
- speak with support services
- manage benefits and banking
- communicate with schools
- arrange housing
- rebuild their independence
One donated phone can become someone’s lifeline.
