People often ask me why I started this organisation. The answer is actually very simple.
I reached a point in my life where I realised that true healing comes from turning your own pain into purpose.
For many years, I lived through domestic abuse, coercive control and years of post-separation abuse. I spent countless hours in family courts, often representing myself, navigating systems that, despite their best intentions, didn’t always understand the invisible nature of coercive control.
Those experiences changed me. But they also taught me something incredibly important.
Pain can leave us bitter. Or it can make us better. I chose to make it matter.
Why this, why now
Empowered Insights wasn’t created because I wanted to start a Community Interest Company. It was created because I couldn’t ignore what I’d learned.
I saw gaps. Gaps in understanding. Gaps in education. Gaps in practical support. And I realised that if those gaps existed for me, they existed for thousands of other people too.
So I asked myself one question:
What if my experience could help someone else?
That single question became Empowered Insights.
Our purpose today
Today, our purpose is simple. We turn lived experience into lasting change through education, prevention and practical support. Everything we do comes back to those words.
We educate because prevention begins with understanding. We support because rebuilding a life requires more than hope, it requires practical help. And we speak openly because silence allows abuse to continue.
